Have you heard of Levi’s 501 pants? Let me introduce to you to the most wanted denim in 2016. Its history goes back to XIXth century, so when looking for the perfect pair of it, try your luck in the vintage stores. Each vintage 501 are one of a kind.
THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO VINTAGE LEVI’S 501.
1. THE WAIST. Vintage denim has no sizing. Each pair was worn differently, so its size won’t match. Don’t like trying on too many pieces? Make the neck-test. Hold the waistband around your neck like you’re putting on a huge denim necklace. If the waistband doesn’t overlap at the back of your neck, they’re not worth trying as most likely they are too small.
2. IMPERFECTIONS. Used denim wil have some distress and unique details. Decide where you want it to be placed. Under the belly button or on your loins?
3. FADE. Decide what color you want. The most common one is bright blue, but you find nice vintage feel also by color faded to lighter tones in some areas.
4. HEM. Distressed hem won’t be unusual. Don’t get discouraged with it. You can fold it, cut it or leave it as it is.
Happy hunting for a perfect pair!
