Every time I travel to my hometown it is kinda like I’d use a time machine and went back in time. Don’t understand me wrong, my beloved Lodz changes big time, but despite all the changes, or maybe even because of them, I can’t help seeing Lodz through the glasses of the past.
It begins with the very basic idea of staying at my parent’s place, where I feel again like a kid staying in my old room, sleeping on my old bed. My teenage bedroom was slightly different than one I have now, probably cos teenage me was slightly different than present me. Main difference- I used to collect things. It was everything, souvenirs from trips, books, CDs. ..Oh, the forgotten idea of CDs destroyed in the era of MP3 and the smell of printed paper are what I rediscover every time I am back.
Traveling through the past continues for the whole time I am staying in Lodz. Regardless changes visible on the surface, the city remains the same. An infinite source of inspiration. In my opinion, there is no other place with more beautiful interior design and architecture. The city keeps a perfect balance between new and old, dirty and clean, messy and organized… At least for me it does.
