HOW TO BOOST SELF-CONFIDENCE

Today I have quite a few outfit photos for you. It is quite unusual for me, but I could not decide which to choose and this is how I end up here, having fifty thousand pictures attached to my blog post. I only hope you won’t feel overwhelmed with this amount of orange gingham dress.

When I post anything unusual or risky, my heart stops for a moment. Will it succeed? Will people like it? Or will they criticize it and I feel like being eaten alive? You never know how others will perceive your work, but as a creator, you have to take a risk.

I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a bunch of people, who not only support my creative attempts and I could not be more grateful for this gift. It is not good to depend only on the opinion of others when it comes to yourself, though, so when it comes to my abilities and my sense of style, I choose to trust my instincts and follow my gut. I haven’t been born super self-confident, though, and here are few things I do that helps me to feel so.

  1. Find what are you good at and do it.
    The easiest way to be more self-confident is to do what you are good at, get good results and let it make you fly.

  2. Let yourself to be NOT PERFECT.
    We all have flaws and there is no other way to deal with them than to accept it. Let yourself to be not good at something. You are skilled at many other things and no one can be good in everything.

  3. Laugh at yourself.
    When you do something silly don’t panic. We all embarrass ourselves at times. There is no point to elaborate on it. Better to laugh it at and move on.

  1. Be yourself.
    Cliche, isn’t it? And what does it even mean?
    At times, it seems others know what you should do with your life. Honestly, I do not believe this is true, so instead of blindly listening to others, I choose to do my thing and be at peace with myself. Learn who do you want to be and be this person.

  2. Use hate as a fuel.
    People say mean things all the time. Only because someone says something, it doesn’t become true though. As long as you do not hurt others, you do not do anything wrong. Do not let negativity perceived from others, to define who you are.

  3. Be kind to yourself and people around you.
    When you are kind to yourself, it is easier to feel confident and good about who you are. Be kind to others to give them this additional boost for their self-confidence as well. And do not do it to gain anything, do it only because you can.

  4. Fake it till you make it.
    Anna Wintour said once: “Even if I’m completely unsure, I’ll pretend I know exactly what I’m talking about and make a decision.” Some time ago I decided to follow her attitude at work and since then others not only perceive me as super confident but also find a lot of reassurance in being and working with me.

So these are my ways to be more confident, but I would love to learn what would you add to this list.

    Adorable gingham dress! Your points are so true. I have to learn to stop being a perfectionist. Once that happens, I bet I’d be way more confident!

      To be honest when I was struggling with self confidence collapse some time ago this is exactly what I did. I had it in the corner of my bathroom mirror, so when I was brushing my teeth in the morning I was reading it. Worked as a charm! 🙂
